With summer fruits bursting with flavour, why not grab a punnet of berries and make yourself some delicious fruity treats?
Raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants and cherries are jam-packed full of goodness and taste delicious when mixed into your everyday dishes. Usually we think of fresh berries as something to eat for breakfast or dessert but at Just Good Food, we recommend using this season’s berries to add colour and freshness into your summer salads, smoothies, ice lollies and cocktails.
Try creating a fresh green salad made up of baby spinach, pecans, goat’s cheese and strawberries – perfect for a dinner party or lunch. The sweet addition adds a different dimension to your usual plate and will impress your guests.
Berries are also a great ingredient for refreshing summer smoothies and fruit infused cocktails. Simply blend together your favourite fruits and either add water, fruit juice or your favourite spirit for a thirst-quenching drink.
Perhaps our favourite family summer treat however is homemade berry lollies. All you need to do is mix fruit juice with real blackberries and raspberries into moulds and leave to freeze overnight, creating a tantalising tangy afternoon treat.
